Who Will You Become?
Below are several character concepts, as well as build recommendations for first time players. These are divided into types of play that most people are interested in. Feel free to look through them, and customize them as you see fit. Remember that you still need to choose a Strain to go along with the type of character you play. We recommend choosing a Strain based on the type of costuming and role-play you enjoy. Welcome to the post-apocalypse. Who will you be?

The Scavenger
You spent most of your life wandering the wastes, stopping at towns to re-supply and selling what you’ve found. Growing up, you were always taught that everything can be a treasure - if you just look at it the right way. Now, you’ve set your sights on a new town, and a new opportunity. You’ll take what you can — things you find, and people you meet.

The Criminal
There are two people in the world: those who are taken from and those who take. And you’ve realized that you don’t want to be on the short end of the stick. You’ve learned who to talk to and what to say. Now, you’ve come to a new town where you can make allies, make money, and find a new group to prey on.
SPECIAL NOTE: Choosing to be a criminal means that you may be involved in Character-versus-Character conflict. If you would like this build but aren’t sure about the criminal aspect, we recommend to remove Criminal and instead pick up either Basic Artisan or Basic Travel.

The Scout
A soft step and a pair of quick feet: You’ve always been fast, and used that to your advantage your entire life. As a child, you played hide-and-seek and were taught when to run. Now that you’re older, you’ve hired out your skills as a scout. There are many that need a scout’s services — caravans that need a forward runner, mercenary companies that wander the wastes and removing hordes of zombies, and even settlements that need warning of an incoming threat. Now, you’ve journeyed to a new town with new opportunities. You’ll hone your skills and find a new crew to work with.

The Guard
You grew up being taught how to defend people — how to watch crowds for signs of violence. You worked with your family or crew to protect caravans or towns. Now, you’ve decided to set out on your own to make a new life for yourself. Perhaps you’ll form your own mercenary company, or join another’s. Whatever the case, you know there will be plenty of opportunities in a new settlement. After all, everyone always needs a good guard.

The Doctor
You’ve always had a knack for helping others. Even when you were little, you tried to help animals that you came across who were injured. As you grew, you realized that you could turn this into something more formal. You began learning how to stitch wounds closed and how to patch people up. Now, you’ve journeyed to a new settlement to hone your skills and continue to assist others.

The Entertainer
You know how to entertain others, whether it’s through music, stories, gambling games, plays, dances, or other forms. You’ve largely stuck to larger settlements with your family, traveling and eking out a living through your talents. After all, the smaller settlements are usually more focused on food and survival rather than worrying about boredom. Now, though, you’ve decided to set out on your own to bring your talents to a new town — and explore a new life. After all, entertainment makes life worth living.

Do you know how hard it is to grow things in a post-apocalyptic wasteland? Not only do you have to make sure your crops get what they need, but you also need to defend them from roving bands of Raiders and zombies. You grew up on a farm on the outskirts of town, and your family provided crops and other necessities to those nearby. You learned well from your family, and know the basics of tending to animals, crops, and surviving. After all, food is one of the necessities of life. But life isn’t quiet on a farm, and some circumstance has caused you to leave it and seek out new opportunities in a new settlement.
The Farmer

The Acolyte
You were raised on religion — born into it with a belief as strong as your very life. Your family were also believers, and showed you the rituals and customs of the religion. But now as you’ve grown into an adult, you’ve been told by your family that you must go out into the world — to experience it and spread the word that you were raised on. You know that you may find others of your religion, or may show others the true path. Then again, perhaps you will be shaken in your faith — and choose another path as you journey to this new town.
SPECIAL NOTE: Make sure to look through the various religions and choose one to follow if you decide to create an acolyte. Then you can read through the various faiths and rituals present in the faith book to learn more about it. Keep in mind that cults are not recommended for first-time players.
